After I finish blow drying my hair, I apply some quick makeup and then decide to get out of here and go get something to eat. I guess Cole will have to come and play bodyguard, but I’d like to ditch him.

Instead of Cole, though, my gaze lands on Griff who’s slouched on the couch, tattooed arms crossed and eyes closed. Something tugs on my heart as I walk closer. Those long legs of his are stretched out and he looks completely at ease. Almost boyish.

His handsome face is relaxed and I get the urge to run a hand through his perfectly-tousled hair. He didn’t bother to shave and I love the scruff covering his lower face.

It’s hard to believe that he looks even more attractive than usual.

My gaze wanders over his lean body, muscles now at rest, and I want to go over there and curl up against him. The last 24 hours without Griff were long and lonely.

God, I missed him.

Suddenly, I find myself staring into his bright aqua eyes. He blinks as though he’s not quite sure where he is...then, a soft smile curves his mouth and he stretches like a jungle cat. “Morning,” he mumbles.

Aww, poor baby. He must be exhausted from his whirlwind trip.

“You’re back,” I say and give him a shy smile.

“Miss me?” he asks.

“Maybe.” I walk over and he just looks up, eyes sparkling. “Want to go get some breakfast? I’m starving.”

“Sure,” he says and pulls himself up. He laces his fingers and lifts his arms over his head for another good stretch and releases a half growl, half moan of satisfaction. My stomach drops at the feral sound and I remember the noises he made on the couch two nights ago.

We head down and step out onto the sidewalk. About a block up, we decide on a small cafe that’s bustling. It smells good and my stomach growls. I order pancakes and Griff orders an omelet with bacon and sausage. My lovely carnivore.

“I can’t get enough black coffee today,” he says and takes a long drink. I watch the muscles in his throat work and damn that scruff on his face looks sexy. “So, how’d it go with Cole?” he asks, studying me closely over the rim of his mug.

“Fine,” I say. “I think he said about ten words total.”

Griff chuckles. “Those SEALS are serious when they’re on a job.”

“I noticed.”

“No word about your brother yet, huh?”

I shake my head. “I’m worried.”

On the table, Griff’s phone rings. He glances down then swipes it up. “It’s Harlow,” he says. “I’d put it on speaker, but…” His gaze darts over the busy restaurant. “Hey, Harlow.”

He listens for a while and then something flares in those blue eyes. Something that looks like excitement. I hope she has a lead or some kind of good news. A minute later, he hangs up. “Wanna go to a party tonight?”

“What?”

“Apparently, there’s been some chatter on the Dark Web about a high-society bash taking place tonight. And our good pals at Autolycus are going to be there.
